givin em somethin to talk about

so, i suppose i'm crazy.

maybe i'm going through a mid-life crisis early, but "Lord willing" (is that possible in this case?!),

i will be at the fedex forum in memphis on sunday-monday (or later) to audition for american idol.

now that i'm actually writing it--admitting it, confessing it, whatever--i can't help but laugh aloud!!

hopefully i'll remember that i'm doing it all in fun and FOR fun.

i don't have any idea what i'm getting myself into by doing this, but how could i NOT go when i've received such overwhelming support from loving persons like you? 17 comments from 13 different people?! :)

my youngest sister has even offered to go with me, which i think would be really fun--she offered to put us up in a hotel that night and everything! :) Although my dear, dear in-laws live only about 15 minutes away, i'll be there all afternoon on sunday, and then i'll need to be at the venue really early on monday morning.

i can't believe i'm really going to do this.

laboring on labor day,
this year i am not
for on this day of this year
i'm hoping for a spot
to sing, to smile,
to give em all i've got
that's right--i'm gonna try
to give 'em
somethin to talk about

HA HA HA!!! :) :) :)

ai 5

okay, so last night at bunco, SOMEhow the girls started talking about american idol & how i should try out for it.

i've been advised against it (and every sensible bone in my body agrees), but thanks to kathy (i bet you're so happy and just LAUGHING right now b/c YES, i did think of songs & sing them all the way home last night), i thought i would propose a little vote. this is probably the most self-centered post ever (yes, even more than the birthday one), but what the heck--it's all just for fun. :)

PLEASE CHOOSE YOUR ANSWERS:

QUESTION 1: SHOULD I AUDITION FOR AI 5?
A. NO
B. YES
C. ARE YOU JOKING.

QUESTION 2: WHAT SONG SHOULD I SING?
A. Let's Give 'Em Somethin' to Talk About, Bonnie Raitt
B. OTHER
(If your answer is "B," then please tell me what "other" is.)

Auditions are two weeks from Monday in Memphis. (only 3 hrs away) I just happen to have Labor Day off this year (first time EVER for the university)...so I guess I'm considering it. What do you say, MB? Want to stand in line with me and maybe audition, too? :)

No wise cracks, Cade.

To Rebekah, on her 28th birthday

Rebekah,

On your birthday, try not to worry so much.

Forget about the money problems
and not having plans for the future.

Don't get so worked up about dog hairs all over the place;
instead, go to the lake with her more often.

Do your best to love others the way you have been loved
so richly and unconditionally by your Heavenly Father.

Try and try and TRY not to take everything so seriously;
this is the only one life you have been given to live, after all, and twenty eight years of it have already passed!

When you make a grammatical error, correct it and move forward.

When someone doesn't react the way you thought he or she would, remember that everyone has the right to do and say as they please; let others have their own opinions.

When you don't get around to sending the thank you note that you've composed 101 times in your head, let it go.

Breathe.
and Smile.
and remember who you are:
a child of the Most High, a daughter of the King, one who is loved by the Most Lovely (even in your unloveliness), created and cherished, and one who has been given the gift of eternal living (which will be much, much longer than 28 years).
